My Soul-mate is Dead (Just Like My Heart)

I looked up and saw an angel on high
An angel that taught my soul how to fly
Like Pegasus riding a beam of light
The Garden of Eden spread in our sight

I looked up and saw the sign of the times
Nailed to a crucifix for His crimes
And though I live in a black wilderness
Still I never thought it would come to this

My Soul-mate is dead!
Just like my heart
My Soul-mate is dead!
Must two as one part?     x2

Happy memories that bring only tears
Lock me shackled and chained with my fears
Gardens we walked through are twisted with thorns
The moon that blest us now proudly wears horns

How can a pure swan fly with broken wings?
How can a dancer dance when no one sings?
Now I cry beneath the sky where I flew
Lost and abandoned with phantoms like you

My Soul-mate is dead!
Just like my heart
My Soul-mate is dead!
Must two as one part?    x2

solo

The clergy is ugly beneath its cloak
Wallowing in brimstone ashes and smoke
Leaving my orphan to die in the cold
Sighing with hearts twenty centuries old

The clergy led my Bright One to the grave
They silenced her soul because she was brave
They lead me blind through the spidery dark
I too died the day God forgot His lark

My Soul-mate is dead!
Just like my heart
My soul-mate is dead!
Must two as one part?   x4

From 'The Prophet'

'Surely there is no greater gift to a man
than that which turns all his aims into
parching lips and all life into a fountain.
And in this lies my honour and my re-
ward,-
That whenever I come to the fountain to
drink I find the living water itself thirsty;
And it drinks me while I drink it.'

                  - Khalil Gibran, 'The Prophet'.

Native North American Proverb

Of the many paths that there are in this life,
There is only one that is worthwhile-
The path of the truely human being.

Forgiveness

We rise or fall together all
And to the hight the depth may call
Naught you can do shall I offend
And nothing you cannot amend

Chorus.

     Forgiveness - I love you!
     Forgiveness - I love you!
     Forgiveness - I love you!
     Forgiveness - I love you!

I sing our song the bright day long
But cry when I encounter wrong
For in your prison of the night
I know that you are one with light

Chorus.

Remember well my friend in Hell
For tears that fall from Heaven tell
The very sickness of the Earth
Is what will bring it's own rebirth.

Chorus    x2.

Madrigal

When the moon has risen high
And the star-light fills the sky
In rich gardens lovers meet
With the flowers under-feet
In true Paradise the two will sit
Though no one will hear of it

Touching hands the two embrace
In their solitary place
Growing closer in the dark
And the silence of the park
'Til at last their lips collide
Leaving nothing left to hide

Let your hands entwine my hair
With your lily fingers fair
And those eyes that haunt my heart
We will never be apart
Breath the words I long to hear
Whisper sweetly to my ear

Solo.

Man and woman filled with grace
Who behold each others face
Like the night I saw you there
With the roses in your hair
And your face out-shone the moon!
But alas!  We part too soon.

We part too soon
We part too soon
We part too soon
We part too soon

The Summer Violet

There once was a child with a bright lovely face
Dressed in a gown of green linnen and lace
Crowned with her Dreams and violet ribbon hair
Walking through fields plucking flowers with care

Chorus
You my love are the Summer Violet
In the tender breezes of waking day
You my love are the Summer Violet
Waving gently from sunrise to sunset

Her Dreams wild stars gaily sailing in sky
That build constellations dancing on high
Lighting green valley with purest of beam
Witness those lights that awake in her Dream

Chorus

Her friend the dragon-fly, raven and snail
Her love the mountain, the forest and vale
As her only sister, if but you are kind
Dreams of the valley are what you will find

Chorus

Solo

There once was a child with a bright lovely face
Dressed in a gown of green linnen and lace
Crowned with her Dreams and violet ribbon hair
Walking through fields plucking flowers with care

Chorus x2.
